Sample Answer 1:

The emergence of international media has really changed the face of the globe. Today we
don’t belong to a big planet called Earth. We are part of a small global village. Exposure to
international media has had a positive as well as negative impact on local cultures. In the
following paragraphs I shall discuss these impacts. Overall, the impact has been largely
positive.

On the positive side, today’s communications and technologies allow a more open spread
of culture around the world – people in far corners of the globe are able to be aware of
and share each other’s culture. It is a view that sees global culture as generally positive –
something that encourages diversity and a mixing of culture and has enabled people
around the world to overcome national boundaries to embrace common causes. Thus,
cultural globalisation in itself promotes diversity and a respect for other cultures.

Some people hold the view that internationalization of media can overpower national
culture. However, this depends on how strong a particular national culture is. In some
circumstances, of course, national culture is damaged by aggressively marketed foreign
media imports. However, the theory that local cultures will be drowned out and
completely disappear under a tide of global media does not appear to hold true at least in
the case of India. This is partly because of the strong cultural identity of India. The cultural
preferences of Indian viewers are so strong that foreign imports are put at a clear
competitive disadvantage relative to the regional and national media produced. In fact,
the international media companies have to tailor their output so as to fit into the local
cultural setting.

Another positive effect that international media has had on India is that our media
companies have improved dramatically under the stiff competition of global media and as
a result they have found a place in the international market. This has put our culture on a
higher pedestal than any other culture of the world.

To put it in a nutshell I pen down saying that the internationalization of media needs not
necessarily undermine national culture. If the local culture is strong enough, it can
withstand any foreign influence.

Model Answer 2:

The dynamics of globalization have been changed rampantly over the years. There is significant growth of international exposure which crosses every threshold because of various source of media. In my opinion, there are way more advantages of international exposure compared to disadvantages and are discussed in the following paragraphs.

To begin with,Over the past few decades it has been seen that the exposure to international media is affecting the local culture. International media assert numerous advantages .Firstly, change in the ideology of traditions and customs for an instance, westernisation have no bondation on women. The international cultures have the equality in the culture, there people treat men and women equal. Consequently, there is an astonishing change in local culture just because of the exposure of international media.Secondly, movies, the numerous genres of movies directly proportionates our local culture because there are substantial ways to connect with international cinema nowadays such as internet etcetera and henceforth, people admire the people, stories, attire, language and adopt in their personal life

Moving further, there are certain disadvantages which affects the culture in adverse direction .While imitate the international culture some people find their life in trouble for an illustration over spending of money on the stuff that are not required etcetera

To recapitulate,I will emphasize that there are advantages which can overweigh the disadvantages

Model Answer 3:

It is certainly true that being exposed to foreign media which includes movies, TV and publications has significantly affected local cultures as evidently seen in my country, the Philippines. It greatly affected our local languages and family values.

Exposure to international music, TV shows and magazines has caused a change to our local languages. By constantly listening for instance, to western songs and watching American TV series such Pretty Little Liars, people in my country have eventually adapted the European language or even an American accent. As a result, this adaptation could gradually lessen the use of our Tagalog language. However, it could also make us globally competitive especially when hardly looking for an employment internationally. As for my experience when I was looking for a nursing job in Melbourne, Australia, one of their hospitals’ requirements is for me to be able to communicate English in advanced level.

Also, constant exposure to foreign media has caused a considerable impact to family values. For instance, my country is a very conservative nation. Reserved people here strongly disregard sex before marriage, but because of foreign cultures regard this unacceptable notion as acceptable and obviously shown in American and western films, Filipinos tend to do so. This leads to the negative influence to my country’s family culture.

In conclusion, I think that there are benefits and drawbacks brought to local cultures by international media, but I cannot deny the fact that because of these foreign sources of information, I have learned a lot, most especially English language. So I certainly believe that there are more positive effects of these global media than the negative ones.

Nowadays, numerous technological applications in media have extended the influence brought on by international media. For example, films, TVs and magzines are all crucial for people’s after-work time, and all these diversifying modern lifestyle. Some people, however, maintain that international media has a negative impact on the local culture, which stands for humans’ history and is the prerequist to historical advance. As for me, although its drambacks, i do believe the truth that international media has great many advantages undoutedly.

Of course, we have to admit the fact that due to the great influencial to global people, international media has rendered several minority cultures on the verge of extinction, which are national tresures. Moreover, accompanyng the development of media, many dwellers are going to abandon their regular lifestyles and resort to more comfortable and convennient modern media to relax themselves, which is really alarming to human beings onthe earth. As for me, however, er should not be blind to its benefits.

In modern society, it is not uncommon that the majority of workers are under constant pressure without ang interesting spare time, therefore, after arduous work, people need to relax through mass media. What is more, international media contributes more convenient and diversity life, which is not contained in traditional cultures. For example, we can keep pace with the lastest news through TV or internet. If people, who have long yearned to get news news at first time, fail to accept the widespread of media, it is not difficult to imagine that fresh news can only be informed in people’s wildest dream.

All in all, only through international media, can people know the world to a large extent. Meanwhile, with the concerted efforts both from government and individuals, a suitable method should be mede to coordinate traditional culture and internetional media.

Sample Answer 5:

It is well known that, media globalization such as movies, TV and magazines have great effects on internal cultures. It highly influences the cultures formation and a massive change is observed through nation’s behaviors. Although globalization through media has many advantages that put people around the world all together, but we cannot avoid some disadvantages to be conveyed.

Media is a good carrier of knowledge and information. It saves time for learner to acquire new science or even help him to create idea. Also help in countries development, whenever a country mimics successful plans of other countries, like the United European organization where the countries involved in this organization exchange news of flourishment and high achievements. We can also see that people living in different countries watch same programs and read same magazines are able to get closer, however, far they are. They can also exchange languages and habits of different cultures, and easily understand each other. And though, somebody can go anywhere and meet with his best friend or even with his soul-mate where common thoughts meet.

On the other hand, media has some disadvantages that we cannot avoid, and I believe that children are getting the greatest percent of loss, there are some impolite scenes transferred to their pure minds, from where catalyzes bad thoughts. In addition, nowadays, there are research studies that justifies the opinion of much watching TV increases the percentage of stupidity and foolishness. It is also does not give the children or teenagers to practice beneficial activities and be more productive to their society. One more bad consequence of media prevail is that it weakens the relations between the individual and family or friends. One is less able to communicate with people around him and share wonderful moments. There will be no good memories to accompany him in elderly and hard times.

To sum up, we can conclude that media shows obvious change on variety of cultures and generates new disciplinary of living ways. However, we should not go in deep with it and we should entertain it within limit to avoid its drawbacks.

Model Answer 6:

There is no doubt that today we are living in a global village where people all around the world listen to the same types of music, watch similar movies, television programmes and even many of us extends our interests to read books and magazines which were published in overseas. While some people have argued by these tendency could destroy one country’s culture and brings adverse effects on people lives, others oppose this notions completely. However, personally I agree with the group of people who believe that its advantages outweigh its disadvantages for several reasons. In this essay I will give some reasons to support my assertion.

To begin with by looking at the advantages of these processes; firstly through television programmes we could get deeper knowledge of different cultures and diverse lifestyles. Secondly if people spend time to read books or to read magazines that were published on overseas then probably they would gain knowledge in a foreign language. Finally more we share our ideas and thoughts through media then more we understand each other. That will definitely help us to reduce the prejudice among nations.

However it’s disadvantages seems greater than its advantages. One is that nowadays people all around are influenced by the international media. Consequently many of us are trying to imitate the lifestyles of other cultures that will lead to cultural erosion of a country. Another point is that our identities are being lost due to the over exposure to international media. For example in these days, people all around the world have been trying to wear the dresses and costumes of the characters on the television programmes. This means that a majority of world people are trying the same fashions and trends and ultimately we are losing our culture and unique identities.

To conclude I would like to reiterate that international media definitely help us to reduce the prejudice among nations and help us to gain knowledge in different languages as well as in different cultures. However I believe that its merits outweigh by its demerits owing to the fact that it would bring significant amounts of threats to one country’s culture and threat to our identities, those factors are unavoidable aspects for our humanity.
